Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor and personal attorney to Donald Trump, was suspended from WABC Radio, leading to the cancellation of his daily show. The station cited his repeated violation of a ban on discussing discredited 2020 election claims. Giuliani contested the ban, calling it a “clear violation of free speech.”
The decision was confirmed by WABC Radio owner John Catsimatidis, who stated that Giuliani had left him “no option” but to enforce the ban. Despite being warned twice, Giuliani continued to discuss the “fallacies of the November 2020 election.”
Giuliani denied being informed of the ban in advance. He argued that if such a policy existed, he would be “crazy to keep doing it.” A letter from Catsimatidis to Giuliani prohibited discussions relating to the 2020 elections, including allegations of fraud and Giuliani’s personal lawsuits.
Giuliani’s spokesperson, Ted Goodman, claimed Giuliani was unaware of the directive until recently. Giuliani criticized the timing of WABC’s decision, suggesting it was influenced by pressure from Dominion Voting Systems and the Biden administration.
Giuliani was recently indicted by an Arizona grand jury for his role in attempting to overturn Trump’s 2020 loss. He also filed for bankruptcy following a verdict requiring him to pay $148 million to two former Georgia election workers for spreading lies about their role in the 2020 election.
Despite the verdict, Giuliani continued to repeat his stolen election claims. His bankruptcy led to claims from a diverse group of creditors, including election technology companies, former attorneys, and Hunter Biden.
A New York bankruptcy judge allowed Giuliani to remain in his Florida condo, hinting at more severe measures if Giuliani did not comply with information requests about his spending habits. The next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
