FALSE Claim by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: “Since the assassination of my father in 1968, candidates for president are provided Secret Service protection. But not me.”

MBFC Rating: FALSE

Reasoning: According to the Secret Service website, under (18 United States Code § 3056) the Secret Service provides protection for Major presidential and vice presidential candidates and their spouses within 120 days of a general presidential election. It is currently more than 460 days away from the election, and therefore they are not obligated to provide protection. Further, the President does not make the decision as was claimed on Social Media.
