Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers that are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

|FALSE||Claim by Matt Gaetz (R): The government is arming up the IRS because “Joe Biden is raising taxes and disarming Americans.”
Politifact rating: False (The IRS purchases guns and ammunition for special agents in its criminal investigation division, a law enforcement branch established in 1919. The typical IRS auditors that Americans would encounter in a routine audit are unarmed. The special agents who are armed investigate crimes ranging from money laundering to cybercrime. There were fewer agents in 2021 than there were in 2017. The division’s spending on ammunition this year is on par with previous years and less than what was spent a decade ago, IRS data shows.)
|Claim via Social Media: ‘The View’ settled with Kyle Rittenhouse for $22 million.
USA Today rating: False (Representatives for both “The View” and Rittenhouse have said the claim of a settlement is not true, and that no lawsuit between the parties ever existed.)
|Claim by Donald Trump (R): “President Barack Hussein Obama kept 33 million pages of documents, much of them classified. How many of them pertained to nuclear? Word is, lots!”
PolitiFact rating: Pants on Fire (In 2017, the Obama Foundation said it would fund the digitization of the records. The National Archives and Records Administration said it “assumed exclusive legal and physical custody of Obama presidential records when Obama left office in 2017, in accordance with the Presidential Records Act.”)
|Claim by Judicial Watch: Donald Trump was allowed to destroy classified documents.
Newsweek rating: Mostly False (Apart from the fact that there is still no publicly-available evidence that Donald Trump destroyed documents, he would have no presidential or other privilege to do so even if he had. U.S. Codes on the protection of presidential records state that destruction of consequential or politically significant material could lead to a fine or imprisonment (or both) and make him ineligible to run for office.)
|FALSE||Claim by Stacy Abrams (D): “Brian Kemp wants to investigate and punish women for having miscarriages.”
Politifact rating: False (Kemp has not said he wants women investigated or punished for pregnancies that end in miscarriage. A six-week abortion law Kemp signed said miscarriage is legal.)
|FALSE||(International: United Kingdom): Claim by Retired Nurse John Campbell: More children suffered a severe reaction to the Covd-19 vaccine than required oxygen therapy for Covid-19.
Full Fact rating: False (This is not correct, because it is based on data for adverse events that may not have been caused by the vaccine. It also makes a false comparison, for several other reasons.)
