Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced on Thursday night that he is running for his old Senate seat in Alabama, mounting an unexpected attempt at a political comeback after his public falling-out with President Donald Trump.
“When President Trump took on Washington, only one Senator out of a hundred had the courage to stand with him: me,” he said in a news release posted on his website. “I was the first to support President Trump. I was his strongest advocate. I still am. We must make America great again.”
