Walmart to discontinue sales of some ammunition, ban open carry in stores

Walmart announced on Tuesday that it would formally end handgun sales, discontinue sales on certain types types of ammunition and ban customers from openly carrying firearms after last month’s mass shooting at an El Paso, Texas, store.

Doug McMillon, president and CEO of Walmart Inc., detailed the move in a letter to associates one month after a gunman with an assault-style rifle “launched a hate-filled attack in our store,” killing 22 people and injuring dozens more.

  1. I am grateful to see that Walmart is taking action when our GOP controlled government will not. I will once again shop at Walmart to show my support of this action.

  2. I will be shopping at Walmart again for their courageous stand against those in favor of unrestricted distribution of an instrument whose sole purpose is to kill. Apparently the 2nd amendment was intended by our one-shot-at-a-time musket bearing forefathers to encourage all manner of death dealing firearms that they could have never foreseen. The NRA’s sole purpose to keep a convenient means of violent death readily accessible to everyone, and many times over. Thank you Walmart for putting the lives of your customers ahead of their dollars!
