President Donald Trump on Friday weighed in on the Department of Justice’s inspector general’s review of the FBI’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, arguing the long-awaited report underscored deep problems at the bureau. Trump also said the report’s conclusions justified his decision to fire his former FBI director, James Comey.

“The IG Report is a total disaster for Comey, his minions and sadly, the FBI,” the president tweeted Friday.“Comey will now officially go down as the worst leader, by far, in the history of the FBI. I did a great service to the people in firing him.”

The report found that Comey broke with FBI protocol in the decision to reopen the Clinton case before the 2016 presidential election, but found no evidence he was motivated by political bias.

The report noted that Comey’s actions hurt Clinton’s campaign, not Trump’s.

Trump criticized the inspector general’s report because it concluded Comey did not act based on political bias.

“The end result was wrong,” Trump said on “Fox & Friends” Friday. “There was total bias. It was a pretty good report and then I say that the IG blew it at the very end with that statement.”
