ResearchGate is a social networking site for scientists and researchers to share papers, ask and answer questions, and find collaborators. According to a study by Nature and an article in Times Higher Education, it is among the largest academic social networks in terms of active users.

ResearchGate functions as a platform where researchers can upload, discover, and discuss scholarly papers. However, ResearchGate itself is not a peer-reviewed scientific publisher and does not independently verify the accuracy, methods, evidence, or conclusions of papers shared on the platform. As a result, the quality of material can vary significantly depending on the author, publisher, journal, and whether the work has been formally peer-reviewed elsewhere.

ResearchGate GmbH owns and publishes the website. Revenue is generated through advertising, institutional and business services, and related platform-based products. ResearchGate is a commercial academic networking platform rather than a nonprofit archive or scholarly society.

Analysis / Bias

ResearchGate is rated Least Biased because it is a broad academic and scientific networking platform rather than a political or ideological publication. It hosts and indexes research across many disciplines and does not appear to promote a consistent political viewpoint.
