TRUE	Claim via Social Media: Democratic U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy wrote “awesome” on X in response to a report that at least 26 Iranian shadow fleet vessels bypassed the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Snopes.com rating: True (Murphy did write “awesome” in response to the report. He later said on X that his post was sarcastic: “Ok Twitter, I can’t believe I need to clarify this but obviously Trump’s bungled mismanagement of this war is not ‘awesome’. As I have said a million times here, it’s a disaster and he should end the war immediately. My tweet was something called ‘sarcasm’.”) Sen. FALSE	(International: Canada): In April 2026, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said: “The United States — our neighbour, our largest trading partner, the country whose economy has been braided into ours for the better part of two centuries — is no longer an ally we can count on.” Snopes rating: False (Carney did announce a more explicit pivot from Canada’s historic ties to the U.S. as a trading partner, saying, “Many of our former strengths, based on our close ties to America, have become our weaknesses.” ) Did Mark Carney say US is ‘no longer an ally we can count on’?
