Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke will leave his role by the end of the year, President Trump announced in a tweet Saturday morning. “The Trump Administration will be announcing the new Secretary of the Interior next week,” Trump wrote in a tweet.
Zinke has been under scrutiny during his time in office, most recently over a profitable land deal between his family and Halliburton chairman David Lesar in the secretary’s hometown of Whitefish, Montana. Incoming chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, Rep. Raul Griljalva, D-Ariz., already promised that he planned to force Zinke to testify before the committee.
