History
Founded in 1883 as the Danbury Evening News, The News-Times is a daily newspaper based in Danbury, Connecticut, USA. The founder is James Montgomery Bailey. The paper covers greater Danbury and the surrounding communities. Paul Barbetta has been named group publisher and president of the Hearst Connecticut Media Group. Barbara Roessner is the Managing Editor of Hearst Connecticut Newspapers.

Hearst Corporation is the owner of The News-Times since 2007. Hearst is an American mass media and business information conglomerate based in New York City. Hearst Newspapers publishes 15 dailies and 36 weeklies, including the Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle, San Antonio Express-News and the Albany Times Union. It also operates digital marketing services and directories businesses under the LocalEdge brand. The newspaper is funded through a subscription and advertising model.
