History

Asharq Al-Awsat covers news throughout the Middle East region, the US, and Europe; they also have syndication rights to the Washington Post, USA Today, and Global Viewpoint.

The Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG) is the publisher of Asharq Al-Awsat, and according to The Guardian, it has close ties to the Saudi royal family. Asharq Al-Awsat is owned by Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, a member of the Saudi royal family. Revenue is derived from advertising.
Analysis / Bias
In review, Asharq Al-Awsat uses emotionally loaded headlines pertaining to US Politics such as this “Trump and a World Without Gary Cooper.” Further, most of the articles are Pro-Trump, such as these quotes from the article, which supports former President Trump’s international policy:
“Ardent advocates of global retreat by the United States feigned anger because Trump was doing what their darling Barack Obama dared not contemplate.”
“Trump-haters labeled it as another example of his supposed subservience to Vladimir Putin.”
