Knowhere was launched with “$1.8M in seed funding. Investors include CrunchFund, Day OneVentures, Danhua Capital, Struck Capital and Abstract Ventures.”

Analysis / Bias

In review, Knowhere presents daily news stories written as Impartial (without loaded wording – covering both sides fairly), Left and Right leaning. They also provide links to other sources of varying bias that are reporting the same story. The impartial stories are dry and factual as one would expect, while the right and left leaning interpretations of the story are more colorful and unbalanced. The concept of the site is unique and serves to educate media consumers of the difference between biased (spinned) media reporting and that which is not.

Overall, we rate Knowhere Least Biased based on impartial reporting and coverage from both sides as well as High for factual reporting. (D. Van Zandt 4/12/2018) Updated (7/7/2018)

  1. Clearly biased. The first words at the website are biased and loaded with “emotional trigger words”: “US lawmakers… called on President Donald Trump Friday to cancel his planned summit Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, unless he would commit to challenging the former KGB officer over the just-announced US indictment of twelve Russian intelligence operatives for meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.” Note that an indictment is merely a “formal accusation” that, in this situation, has 0% of going anywhere — for show, timed right ahead of the 2018 Congressional elections. Note that Putin, the Russian president, is described as “the former KGB officer,” a point that has no relevance to the issue at hand — but that conjures up sinister images in the minds of Americans. It states as fact the allegation (unproved to date) of some sort of (unknown) “meddling” in the 2016 election.
