Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is heading to North Korea on Thursday with the hopes of nailing down a plan for dismantling Kim Jong Un’s nuclear weapons program.
In what will be Pompeo’s fourth meeting with North Korean officials in three months, the trip comes after an NBC News report, citing U.S. intelligence agencies, that Pyongyang has increased production of fuel for its nuclear weapons. President Donald Trump and Kim signed a joint statement at their summit in Singapore last month agreeing to “work toward denuclearization,” but the document included no details on the location of the nuclear weapons program, how it would be dismantled or how that dismantling would be verified.
