Daily Source Bias Check: The Young Turks

left8LEFT BIAS

These media sources are highly biased toward liberal causes.  They utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage liberal causes. Sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Left Bias sources.

Factual Reporting: HIGH

Notes: The Young Turks (TYT) is an American political commentary web series that was created by journalist Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz and Dave Koller. Currently co-hosted by Uygur and Ana Kasparian, its stance is progressive/left-wing; although its primary focus is on political commentary, the program provides opinion on topics of varying news genres.  Although very left biased in delivery the Young Turks do a decent job of sourcing their information with credibility.

People think TYT is extreme left…
    *internal screaming*

  2. It seems that most people vote for the extreme no matter the source. CNN is voted by people as extreme left and Fox News extreme right. While no one will deny they are biased, extreme is a bit much.

  3. I find TYT well sourced, and willing to admit their progressive bias while maintaining journalistic integrity. It’s when outlets claim truth, but conceal bias, that it’s worrisome.

  4. They are definitely extreme left, any more proof then their meltdown on the 2016 Presidential elections is a good start, when you dismiss the “other side” which is what the left does like no other such as calling your opponents stupid, dumb, claiming you are better than them because you do not like their stance on issues, choice of who to elect for POTUS, etc. That is as far leaning as you can get… Do not get me wrong I was a fan of TYT for a very long time, I believe they do source their information well, but they spin their narrative even if its contrary to the actual data. It is very sad, it is one reason I like any other news outlet or commentator site I read, I take it all with a grain of salt.

  5. Don, so you think our yellow dot should be moved even further to the left? I believe you are correct. We try to re-review once a year. TYT is due and when we do we will move it accordingly.
