(12/6/15) It is not possible to track all gun sales in the USA, but it is possible to track how many background checks are performed as the FBI keeps track and publishes the data. I found charts on the internet but most ended in 2012, which does not show the real picture of how gun background checks have increased considerably after the Newtown Massacre and all the other subsequent mass shootings. With that in mind I made my own chart that you can feel free to distribute. This chart is current up November 30th, 2015. I am pretty certain after the recent shooting events, 2015 will shatter the record for background checks. The purpose of this is not to speculate why background checks and hence guns sales have increased dramatically over the last 6 years, but rather to give information for you to interpret.
